My name is Kirby Liesmann, and I am the owner and head coach of Kirby’s School of Wake. I began wakeboarding at the ripe age of seven. I instantly fell in love with the sport and enjoyed countless hours on the boat with family working on my tricks. My skills progressed quickly, and soon I was watching instructional videos on repeat and getting lessons from a local pro. That spring boarded me into competing in amateur wakeboarding contests, eventually rising all the way up to the professional ranks. In pursuing a career as a professional wakeboarder, I had many coaches and mentors that helped me refine and grow my skills. Their influence is what led me to a career as a watersports instructor. In addition, I spent numerous hours shadowing lessons of the best riders and coaches. This time gave me a foundation that I used to blend into my own coaching style, one that is calibrated, methodical, and systematic. I strive to create a safe and fun environment for riders of all ages and ability levels.
